My freshman year at BYU, my roommate was Kathy Haas, and the other roommates were Lisa Ann Nelson, Janie Muehlstein, Margaret Weber, and Becky Mabey. We had a fun year. We were all very different and learned so much from each other. Kathy got engaged and married. Janie moved on with some other friends, and Becky went on a mission (maybe lived at home for a while first). Margaret, Lisa Ann, and I went looking for another apartment for the next year. I recruited Auralee Adamson (a friend from Junior High), and our friend Chimene McDaniel also joined us. We had one open spot and Elsie Bighorse (a native American girl) was put in with us. We divided up meals and dishes and other chores. We had fun together. We stayed at Pineview Apartments (which is now Glenwood Apartments). This is where I met Dave Tueller and Auralee met David Scott, whom after 1 1/2 years were married. I found out later that our earlier roommate Becky was killed in a motorcycle accident. And I have off and on kept in contact with Lisa Ann and Margaret and Chimene. I don't know where Elsie ended up, but she was sweet! Auralee and I kept in the closest contact. She moved to Chicago with David and they adopted two children. David was an Area Authority for the church there. Auralee became ill with cancer and passed away in 2019. She was an angel on earth. I'm so sad she doesn't get to see her grandchildren grow up, and that David is alone. I'm sure he will find a way to make it through the rest of life without her.
