I have loved reading Come, Follow Me this year! The Book of Mormon is such a wonderful book to study and restudy. I am never bored in that book! Today I read 3 Nephi 13. The first part talks about doing alms, praying, and fasting. We are to do them, but not to be seen of men. If we do them to be seen of men, that will be our reward--the reward of men. That is such a fleeting reward. The Lord wants us to have HIS reward which is much better. So do those 3--alms, pray, fast--so only the Lord sees you do them. And then he will reward you correctly and thoroughly! And do them out of love for God.
Also, these three verses stood out to me:
32 For your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.
34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow, for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. aSufficient is the day unto the evil thereof.
I need to keep my SEEKING as his kingdom and his righteousness. He will help me take care of the rest. I'm not sure I know how to seek this first very well. I think he can help me when I pray for it. I hope that I can get in such a habit that I don't even notice that I am thinking about seeking first the kingdom and his righteousness. Money, things, even friendships, family problems, homes, trips, food, clothing all will fall into their rightful place when I do that. I really want that in my life, and I will try today to get a little better at it.
